Glamour is a very old word.   In its original sense it has a literally magic meaning.  To charm someone, to make some one (or thing) appealing and alluring.

I suppose our contemporary view of glamour goes back to the thirties and forties as film stars became “glamorous”.  As lighting, film and photography became more advanced - and our understanding of the aesthetic as well - we created “glamour“ in a modern image.

Of course as time has moved on, like so many things glamour has moved a little more down-market.   Away from the beautiful, aspirational, famous and rich it has now become synonymous with lads mags and soft porn.

While I'm not prudish about this change, I do like to have a little wit with my tit.  I hope in the following pages I can express that mix of sexuality, but with a cleverness about it.

The whole point of working within a genre is that the genre prescribes the style and final results.

Glamour photography should represent the subject as available, more than that, ready and willing.   The whole thing contains a sexuality and lust that should draw the viewer in.

This does not need to be blatant, often a hint and tease is far more alluring than the full reveal.

Lastly we should go back to the roots of the word.  Our glamour subjects and locations should present a vision of wealth, fitness, beauty and happiness that the viewer can aspire to and want.
